Riding the paddle boats is definitely on my to-do list this month. These two were joined by about 10 happy, well-fed ducks as they paddled up and down the river at Sunshine Plaza.

Winter morning and a misty vista over the back fence. Might start out a bit brisk, but our winter days warm up brilliantly.

Not a bad view for dinner on a Thursday night looking out over Mooloolaba beach. Mooloolaba bar and grill is a great place to catch up with friends. Can’t go wrong with a $15 parmy night!

This has got to be the best way to start the weekend! Another amazing winter day and the sun is streaming through the house. Now I just have to decide what to do today - picnic at Cotton Tree park, walk along Mooloolaba beach, coffee with friends beside the river at Sunshine Plaza, or maybe all three!

We couldn’t do a pic a day without a gratuitous kangaroo shot. Figured I’d get in first… The resident roos are friendly enough, but are still wild animals and need to be treated as such - fine to look, just don’t try and touch. Around 50 Eastern Greys split their time between the campus and the adjoining Mooloolah River National Park.

Pretty tough seeing this on your way to work and not having the day off! Kawana beach is nice and quiet mid-week except for the odd dog owner, retired couple or mum and bub taking a morning walk. I’m lucky to say this view is just down the end of my street. At least it’s only a 10 min drive to work at USC and I get to come back to this every afternoon. Keep it up sun and I’ll see you again on the weekend :)

A day in our world. For the month of August, our team (the Communications unit at USC) have hijacked the Tumblr blog once again. We think we’ve got it pretty good - working at USC and living on the Sunshine Coast - and we’ll try our darndest to demonstrate this in just one pic a day. Follow our photo stream and get to know a bit more about the best of both worlds from our perspective. Winter hinterland. Took this pic this morning on my 6am jog around Yandina -inland from the Coast. The shot shows the sun rising behind Mount Ninderry and is taken from one of the many hill tracks in the area. It’s a tough climb but the view is well worth it!
